ATMASANGA has recently taken up the task of REDUCING PLASTIC BAG POLLUTION. We realize that it is important to make available a viable alternative to plastics – hence decided to start supplying COTTON BAGS to retail shops. We found the response from people quite encouraging and decided to widen the scope by involving businesses to either re-sell or distribute free bags, depending on the nature of business. We also figured out that most businesses do not wish to invest in large stocks as expected by most large scale bag manufacturing units. We concluded that a minimum of 100 Bags could be cost effective to custom print.

Incidentally, we make these bags in small units employing men and women from villages surrounding Auroville and we also outsource job work to other towns where such small units exist. The scope of expansion is endless, if we are able to find support from businesses to buy the product. We have a screen printing unit that makes it convenient to undertake small orders of 100 and more. In short, this enterprise provides employment and livelihood to many people utilizing modest resources.

At present, we manufacture Cotton Bags (Calico) of 140 GSM fabric weight. We have TWO basic models that are simple, functional, durable and affordable.

We have a few STANDARD PRINT DESIGNS related to ‘environment issues’ that we PRINT ON ONE SIDEleaving the SECOND SIDE FOR ADVERTISEMENT MESSAGE OF THE BUYER. If the buyer wishes BOTH SIDES TO CARRY their own message it is OK as long as they are willing to PAY EXTRA for Printing Costs. We are also open to suggestions!
